Common Denominators

Common Denominators

What a diverse world we live in. The geology, climate, plant life, animal species… When you stop and think about it, it’s truly amazing. And even more amazing is the diversity of the people who inhabit the earth: languages, cultures, colors, likes, dislikes, habits, hobbies, strengths, weaknesses…

Yet despite all this diversity, according to God’s Holy Word, there are many things that are true of every human.  Open your heart to the truth of God's Words!

Common Denominators
We all exist because God created all things
  • Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
We all have life because it is a gift from God
  • Psalm 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.
We are all made in the image of God
  • Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
We all have a common ancestry – Adam and Eve
  • Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
We are all sustained by God’s common grace
  • Matthew 5:44-45 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
We all have souls that will exist for eternity
  • Matthew 25:46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s righteous standards
  • Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
We will all suffer the wrath of God if the price for our sin is not paid
  • Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
We must all depend upon God’s grace in order to have a right relationship with Him
  • Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

One last Common Denominator I will mention:

Jesus Christ, God’s one and only unique son, is the only way for any person to have a right relationship with Father God
  • John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

But how and why is this true?

Jesus, Immanuel, ‘God with us’, stepped out of eternity and was born of a virgin.
  • Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
    • He did this as a critical part of fulfilling His promises and prophesies.
Jesus lived a sinless life and died on a cross.
  • Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures
    • He did this to pay for the sins of man by perfectly and permanently satisfying the requirements of God’s Law.
Jesus Christ rose from the dead and appeared to many people.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:4-6 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.
    • He did this to defeat death and prove that He is God.
Our Lord and Savior ascended to Heaven and is seated at the right hand of Father God
  • Romans 8:34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
  • 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
  • John 14:2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you
    • He did this to be our advocate and intercessor and to prepare a place for us.

He did all this, and so much more, because He loves us!

He did all this for me!

He did all this for YOU!!

If God’s Holy Spirit is speaking to you, drawing you to God the Father, there is something you must do:

Critical Decision

Believe on Jesus Christ. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior.
  • John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
  • Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

In your own words, tell God:
  • I know I am a sinner and deserve God’s wrath.
  • I believe that Jesus, God in the flesh, died for my sins.
  • I accept the payment He made for my sins by shedding His sinless blood.
  • I believe that God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, raised Jesus from the dead.
  • I surrender my life to Jesus and will serve Him all the days of my life.

Embrace the truth of God’s Word
  • Love, peace, eternal life…

Let go of Satan’s distractions and deceptions
  • Tradition, worldly wisdom, human philosophy…

Prayer

Dear Lord, may the truth of Your Word’s bring life to the lost. May Your will be done. In Christ’s precious name I pray. Amen.
